Kapuso stars shine at the Asia Model Festival Awards

SEOUL, KOREA—Indeed, the predictions that GMA 7 actress and model Rhian Ramos will emerge to be the next important star in Philippine showbiz is slowly but surely coming true.

Just recently, Rhian, together with Victor Aliwalas—both prized talents of the GMA Artist Center (GMAAC) stable—were conferred the prestigious Model Star Awards in the 2010 Asia Model Festival Awards held at the snowy, 15-degree-below-zero temperature city—and we were there to witness everything.

This achievement comes coincidentally in the wake of the conclusion of Rhian’s highly successful and top-rating primetime TV Koreanovela Stairway To Heaven. Going to South Korea to receive this award is something that has tickled Rhian pink just thinking about it. “It will be a homecoming of sorts for Jodi,” she told us with a laugh on our way to the airport last January 14. As the character Jodi, Rhian was able to not just capture the hearts of Filipino televiewers, but also get the approval of many Korean fans living in the Philippines.

Held at the Olympic Hall of the Olympic Park last January 15, the star-studded night was filled with performances and celebrities (including, of course, Korea’s most popular actors, singers and models), thrilling not just the Korean audience but also the representatives of participating countries like the Philippines, China, Japan, Singapore, Mongolia, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, India, and Indonesia.
